Activities and Events

Forum LinkThe Activities and Events team work with the County Deputy Commissioner John Wells to provide practical support for programme across the County. John has been busy building a new activities team who will work to support programme in line with the 2018 vision. In response to many requests from section leaders the activities team has prioritised a re-launch of county programme, bringing in some new ideas as well as reinstating some old favourites.

Recent key team appointments are announced below. Along with these new County Assistant Commissioner roles we expect to appoint a number of County Section Leader and Adviser roles to work in a dynamic team. 

Team members will welcome ideas for new events and activities as well as comments or suggestions for improvements on existing programme items. 

 

New Youth Programme Team

We are very pleased to announce the following new Assistant County Commissioner (ACC) appointments to the youth and programme team:

Elaine Chamberlain takes on the role of 'ACC Activities' with responsibility for day to day management of the county activities programme. Elaine is well known around the county and brings a wealth of experience to the activities team. She will by the primary contact for activities enquiries, and will coordinate resources, venues and budgets to bring events to fruition.

Louise Smith steps up as 'ACC Young Leaders' (YLs) with the remit of engaging with the YLs, their unit leaders and leaders in the sections they work with.  Louise will support the introduction of consistent county-wide YL training, assisting where needed.  The County Executive Committee has agreed to commit substantial funds to cover YL training and YL events within county. Louise will be ensure these funds are used to good effect so that best practice for all things YL is shared!

Bob Groom returns to the county team as 'ACC Explorer Programme'. ESLs and their teams will know Bob from his former ACC Explorer role and many will have seen him involved with water activities for scouts and explorers. Out of the water Bob will be bringing some high profile events back into the county programme. Expect to see and take part in some high impact challenges...
