Christmas is a time for giving

Explorer Scout Daniel Kimber Binmore sleeps out to raise money for the Crisis Charity.

As the old year draws to a close there will be parties all over the globe wishing good cheer and wellbeing to the year ahead. Scouts are known for doing a good turn everyday and helping others. Young Leader Daniel Kimber Binmore has been helping others this winter by sleeping overnight in a bivouac raising funds for the Crisis Charity.

Intrepid Explorer Scout, Daniel Kimber Binmore, has spent since the 19th of December every night in a make shift bivouac similar to one which homeless people use. Sleeping in sub zero temperatures and waking up to find fresh snow falls on top of his bivouac. He is set to sleep 18 nights sleeping outside all to raise money for the Crisis Charity.

Scout Daniel Kimber Binmore said

Thanks to all the support from Scout friend both near and far I have raised over £440, I initially thought I could raise £200 for Crisis and how contributions are going I could raise £1,000 for this worthy charity.
I only have a few more nights of challenging sleeping in my bivouac and I hope not too many more waking up with ice on the inside of my shelter. But for all those homeless people they will still be sleeping rough when I finish my challenge so please donate via my just giving page, a link is on the Cambridgeshire Scouts Facebook page.”

When not sleeping outside, Daniel is an inspirational Young Leader with 63rd Peterborough Scout Group based in Castor and Ailsworth. He helps run activities as part of the programme for Beavers, Cubs and Scouts in the group as well as being a fantastic role model for the newly formed Explorer Scout Unit attached to the group.
