This year, Ely District Scouts will be holding their 4th International camp in recent years; this time the destination will be near Salzburg in Austria.
We have booked camping and a building at the Zellhof campsite which is about 15 miles north of Salzburg. In previous years we have taken one coach and a few cars and travelled to the campsite (Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands), however this year we have a record number of people wanting to go and as such have had to put on a second coach!
We currently have a vacancy for the County's Safeguarding Awareness Co-ordinator (SAC) role. This role is linked to providing safeguarding awareness support across the County including overseeing the various CEOPS Ambassadors that we have and for overseeing the rolling out of both Safeguarding Awareness courses and CEOPS training to both adults and young people alike. The training does not have to be delivered by the SAC.
Project Update December 2013
Za’atari Refugee Camp in Jordan shelters more than 130,000 Syrian refugees of which over 60,000 are children.
A few weeks ago I advertised some information about this appeal around the county and would like to place this again, and share with you the progress this project has made.
On Christmas Eve, December 2013 I have received a copy of an email from Andrej Mahecic – Senior External Relations Officer from UNHCR, London that the toys had arrived and were being distributed to the children. Later that day a News Release and video provided by Andy Needham from the Za`atari Refugee Camp in Jordan. The full report and video, together with many photos, are available on the UNHCR website and that of the Scout and Guide Fellowship.
