From the County Commissioner

Firstly I would like to thank all of you for your kind words concerning my recent appointment as County Commissioner for Cambridgeshire. Time has really flown over the last 4 weeks and I thought now would be good time just to briefly bring you up to date with things that are happening in the County and with the County Team Structure.

St.Georges Day Awards

The time has come where we need to consider those in the County that have provided an outstanding and exceptional service to Scouting over at least the last five years since they have either been awarded the Merit Award, Silver Acorn or Bar to the Silver Acorn.

Cambridgeshire's Mobile Display Unit

We are pleased to announce that the County's mobile display unit is now up and running and has had its first outing at the recent St.Georges Promise Renewal Event in Cromwell. It is available for use at any event that a Group or District may be attending/hosting where you wish to increase Scouting's presence. It is designed to be a resource that is aimed at adult recruitment but can also be used to attract young members as well.

Polar Medal

Congratulations to Steve Canham from Cromwell District in being awarded by Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace the Polar Medal for his contribution to services in the Polar region. The Polar Medal is conferred on Citizens of the United Kingdom by the Sovereign for either conspicuous contributions to the knowledge of Polar regions or for services in support of the objectives of Polar expeditions or explorations.

Chief Scouts Personal Award

At Cromwell Districts St Georges Promise Renewal Celebration Event  Dale Lawrence, an AESL, was presented with the Chief Scouts Personal Award. This award is an unrestricted award of the Chief Scout.
