Cromwell Mountain Club

CMC logoCromwell Mountain Club is a Scout Active Support Unit with the remit "To provide mountain activities for the Scouts, Explorer Scouts, Network Scouts and Leaders in Cromwell District, and to provide the means of helping members to gain mountain activities permits within the Scout Association's existing authorisation scheme."

 

Through CMC, Cromwell District Scouts have the opportunity to take part in a number of organised trips each year to venues in the Lake District, Snowdonia, the Brecon Beacons and the Peak District. Additionally, CMC organises trips to the Kandersteg International Scout Centre in Switzerland. Go to the CMC pages

July 2017 - Derbyshire

Glenbrook Guide Centre in the Hope Valley in Derbyshire will be our home over the weekend of 14-16 July. With easy walking straight from the door or remote moorland walking, ghyll scrambling and weaselling a short drive away, this promises to be another great trip for all, including the younger Scouts, as long as those under 12½ years come with a Troop leader.

August 2017 - Scotland

Over the 2017 summer holidays we are going to the stunning Cairngorms National Park in Scotland. Our base for the period 19th - 26th August will be Rothiemurchus Lodge, just outside Aviemore. The CMC have been running trips to the mountain ranges of the UK and abroad since being founded over 30 years ago, and now it’s your chance to take part!

October 2017 - Snowdonia

We return to an old favourite, Yr Hafod hostel in the Ogwen Valley – a great centre for walking and rock climbing on the Glyder and Carnedd mountain ranges.  This is over the first weekend of half-term (20th to 23rd October).  Open to Leaders, Explorers and Scouts over 12½ years, who have some previous mountain walking experience.
